Golf Tournament Aims to Raise Awareness during Testicular Cancer Awareness Month April 18, 2025

Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation (TCAF) is excited to announce that Tee Off for Testicular Cancer is back for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic, this time at Sewells Point Golf Course in Norfolk, Va., during Testicular Cancer Awareness Month on April 18, 2025.

This charity golf outing aims to raise awareness of testicular cancer while also raising funds for TCAF’s programs. This is the first time the event is being held in Norfolk; however, TCAF has had astonishing success with past tournaments, raising more than $250,000 since the event’s inception. Past events have taken place in Colorado and Arizona, making this the first iteration of the tournament on the East Coast.

April is Testicular Cancer Awareness Month. Despite not being officially proclaimed at the federal level, Governor Glenn Youngkin has made this proclamation annually since 2022 in the Commonwealth. “Having a chance to get out and play golf serves as a great way to raise awareness of this disease,” says Kim Jones, founder and CEO of TCAF. “Everyone’s already talking about their golf balls, whether Vice or Pro V1, making it the perfect opportunity to promote the importance of early detection for men.” Kim’s son Jordan passed away in 2016 after battling testicular cancer twice.

Steven Crocker, a Virginia Beach native and testicular cancer survivor, serves on the TCAF Board of Directors and is organizing this tournament. Diagnosed with stage 2b testicular cancer at the age of 25 in 2019, Steven was treated locally at Urology of Virginia and Virginia Oncology Associates for his orchiectomy and chemotherapy. “Golf is something I have taken a larger interest in following my diagnosis and treatment. I’m still learning, but what remains true is that I am good at losing balls.” Steven jokes. “My goal for this tournament is to raise $25,000 for TCAF’s vital programs.”

Funds from the tournament support TCAF’s programs, including financial aid for men and families impacted by testicular cancer; annual conferences for patients, survivors, caregivers, and medical providers; academic education and college ambassador programs; and more.

Registration for sponsors and players is open through TCAF’s online store. Sponsors have already pledged their support, including Virginia Oncology Associates, Vice Golf, Amanda Robbins Photography, Mythics, True Metal Supply, Brandon Mitchell Films, Priority Pest Services, Downs Dental Care, The Gala 417 and Indiana Sugars.
